Screens and children's self-esteem
This article explains how excessive use of screens can have detrimental effects on the development of children's self-esteem. Digital media can promote unrealistic standards of beauty, which can lead children to compare themselves to others and feel dissatisfied with their appearance. In addition, screens can be addictive and socially isolating, which can also affect children's self-esteem. Excessive screen use can also prevent children from taking on real-life challenges, which are important for developing their self-confidence. It is therefore recommended to limit screen time and promote balanced activities such as face-to-face social interaction, physical activities and creative hobbies to foster the healthy development of self-esteem in children.
